A watch that has passed through a family
An inherited watch may have been wound by a grandfather, worn at weddings and kept safe for many years. It should not be hurried or treated as an ordinary job. Our certified watchmakers give it a full servicing, and show you its condition before anything is changed.
Older watches may need extra attention, and we say so plainly. If a part cannot be saved, you are told before anything happens. The aim of the service is to bring the movement back to reliable running while keeping the watch as it was.

Gentle, thorough dismantling
Each screw, wheel and spring is removed with care and kept in order, so the movement can be rebuilt exactly as it was made.
Cleaning and close examination
After ultrasonic cleaning, the watchmaker studies every part and flags what has worn, so nothing is replaced without a reason.
Replacement only where needed
Parts beyond saving are replaced, while anything that can carry on serving stays in place, so the watch keeps its character.
Re-oiling and careful timing
The movement is oiled afresh, reassembled and regulated, and the case is tested for water resistance before the watch is returned.

Questions about watch servicing in Jumeirah
My father's watch has not run for years. Is it worth servicing?
Often it can be, but we examine it before saying. A watch that has stopped may need cleaning and fresh oil, or it may need a part. We assess it, tell you what we find and leave the decision with you.
Can a Jumeirah family watch keep its original character?
That is our aim. Servicing addresses the movement and seals, and we avoid anything that alters a watch's appearance unless you ask. Polishing, if wanted, is a separate conversation, and we prefer to keep original edges and proportions intact, so the watch stays recognisably the one the family knows.
Should I bring papers or boxes for a Jumeirah family watch?
If they exist, bring them, along with old receipts or service stickers. They give the watchmaker some of the history to work with, and sometimes a useful clue to what has already been done. If there are none, the watch can still be examined and serviced just as thoroughly.
Will a serviced watch be ready to hand down again?
A thorough service gives the movement a fresh start, so it is in good order for the next wearer. We cannot promise how long it will run before it needs attention again, as that depends on how it is worn and kept.
