Watch Authentication in Jumeirah, Dubai

Jumeirah

Watch Authentication for Jumeirah

Some watches arrive with a story and no papers. We examine the watch with care and write down what our watchmakers can say about it, so the family has something clear to hold.

Watch Authentication

When a watch is passed down

A watch inherited from a parent or grandparent may have been serviced, repaired or refinished many times, with nobody left to ask what was done and when. The examination reads those changes from the watch itself: what is original, what was replaced, and what has been refinished along the way.

The findings go into a written report that can sit with the family's records. They are the expert opinion of ChronoCare's watchmakers, offered carefully and in plain language. They do not guarantee authenticity and are not a legal certificate, but they give a family a clearer picture to work from.

What we look at in an heirloom

01

Signs of past repair

Earlier work shows in screws, case back, crown and dial, and the watchmaker notes what has been done and how sympathetically.

02

Original or replaced parts

Dial, hands, crystal and bracelet are assessed for originality, since older watches have often been refreshed with newer parts along the way.

03

History inside the movement

Marks and wear inside the case suggest how the movement has been looked after, and which parts may have been renewed.

04

Reference and serial details

The numbers on the watch are recorded and compared with its configuration, giving the family an accurate description to keep.

Scenic view of Jumeirah, Dubai

Long-established homes by the beach

Jumeirah, from the first streets along Jumeirah Beach Road to Umm Suqeim and Al Safa, is home to long-established families and beachside villas. Watches here are often handed on, worn for decades and kept in drawers between generations, with the sea air close by. Such watches may not come with a full history, which is where an examination helps.

To arrange an examination, call or message us on WhatsApp, and we will set an appointment at our Dubai Hills workshop. Bring the watch and whatever the family has, whether that is a box, a card, an old receipt or simply a story told by a relative, however patchy it is.

When family watches need a look

  • A relative's watch has come to you with no papers at all.
  • The estate needs an accurate written description of each watch.
  • The dial looks unlike any similar watch you have seen in books.
  • Nobody can say what was replaced during past services.

Questions about watch authentication in Jumeirah

I live in Jumeirah. Can I bring in a watch I have inherited?

Yes. Contact us by WhatsApp or phone, and we will arrange an appointment at the Dubai Hills workshop. Our watchmakers will examine the watch and write up what they find, including any parts that look replaced or refinished, and what they could not determine.

Can the report help a Jumeirah family settle an estate?

The report is a written description by watchmakers, which families sometimes keep with estate records. It is not a legal certificate or a valuation, so ask your adviser or executor what they require before relying on it. Whether it suits their purposes is for them to decide.

What if papers for the watch are missing?

Many heirlooms have none. The examination works from the watch itself, so missing papers do not stop it. The report notes that no documents were available, and builds its opinion from what the watchmaker can inspect. Photographs of the box or a relative's note can also be shown to the watchmaker.

Will an older watch be judged against modern standards?

No. Older watches are expected to show age, past servicing and replaced parts. The watchmaker considers what is reasonable for the reference and period, and the report separates ordinary wear from changes that affect originality, such as parts from another watch.
