Expert examination

Watch Authentication in Dubai

An unhurried, expert examination of your watch by ChronoCare's watchmakers at our Dubai Hills workshop. You receive a written report of what they found, in plain language.

Watch Authentication

An expert opinion, set down in writing

Authentication at ChronoCare is an examination, not a stamp. A watchmaker works through the case, dial, hands, movement and bracelet, and checks that the serial number and reference sit together as they should. Nothing is assumed from the outside of the watch alone, and each part is judged on its own and then against the rest.

What you receive is a written findings report. It records what was examined, what is consistent, what is not, and any parts that look replaced or refinished. The findings are the expert opinion of ChronoCare's watchmakers. They are not a guarantee of authenticity and not a legal certificate.

People usually ask for an examination when a decision is coming: before buying a watch privately, before offering one for sale, when arranging insurance, or when a watch arrives through an inheritance and nobody is sure what it is. We work independently, so the opinion is ours and belongs to no brand.

How an examination is carried out

01

Enquire and book

Message us on WhatsApp or call to arrange an appointment. Tell us the brand, the reference if you know it, and why you would like the watch examined.

02

Receive and record

At the Dubai Hills workshop the watch is received and its outward condition noted, so that everyone agrees how it looks before the examination begins.

03

Examine the exterior

Case, crystal, dial, hands, crown and bracelet are checked against what is expected of that reference, including finishing, markings and proportions.

04

Examine the movement

A watchmaker studies the movement, its finishing, markings and parts, and notes anything original, replaced or out of keeping with the case and dial.

05

Report and discuss

You receive a written findings report and the chance to talk it through with a watchmaker. If any work is suggested, we show you what and why before anything is done.

Questions about watch authentication

What does watch authentication involve at ChronoCare?

A watchmaker examines the case, dial, hands, movement and bracelet, and compares the serial number and reference with the watch itself. The movement is inspected as well as the exterior, and the findings are written up in a report.

Will I receive a certificate of authenticity?

No. You receive a written findings report, which is the expert opinion of ChronoCare's watchmakers. It is not a legal certificate and it does not guarantee authenticity. It sets out, in plain words, what was examined and what was concluded.

What happens if the examination finds a problem?

The report says so plainly and the watchmaker explains it. A replaced part or a refinished dial is not always a fault, but it matters to you. Any work that might help is discussed first, and nothing is done without your agreement.

When should I have a watch examined?

The best moment is before a decision. That usually means before buying or selling, when arranging insurance, or when you inherit a watch and need to know what it is. An examination of a watch you already own is also welcome.

How do I book an examination?

Send a message on WhatsApp or call +971 56 342 6757 and we will arrange an appointment at our workshop in Dubai Hills. It helps to tell us the brand, the reference if known, and what you plan to do with the watch.

Are you connected to the watch brands?

No. ChronoCare is an independent workshop and has no authorisation or affiliation with any brand. The report records what our watchmakers see in the watch in front of them, without reference to any brand's view, archive or records.
