Salt air, sunscreen and a dulled finish
A watch worn around the Marina meets salt in the air, sunscreen on the skin and humidity every day. Together they leave a film that dims polished surfaces and settles into brushed grain and bracelet links, so a watch can look older than its years.
Some of that dullness is only a film, and a careful refresh will clear it with very little metal loss. Real scratches are another matter. We separate the two on inspection, so only the work that is really needed goes ahead, and anything that can be left alone is.

Close inspection separates surface haze from true scratches, so we only remove metal where marks cannot be cleared any other way.
Bracelet links refreshed
Links gather residue where they meet and flex, and refinishing them restores a clean, even look along the whole length of the bracelet.
Sharp edges kept
Bevels and lug edges are protected, because over-polishing a sporty case rounds them quickly and changes how the watch sits on the wrist.
Dents treated properly
Knocks from boat rails and pier edges are assessed, with laser welding offered where a dent is too deep for polishing alone.

Is a sports watch polished differently from a dress watch?
The method is similar but the thinking differs. Sports cases often have sharper brushed flanks and wider bevels that over-polishing would quickly round off, so we are particularly careful to keep their edges defined. Dress watches have their own delicate polished surfaces, which call for the same restraint.
How do you decide how much to polish?
We start from what the watch needs. Marks that clear with light work are cleared lightly. Where more metal would have to go, we explain what that would change and leave the decision with you.
