Watch Repair for Palm Jumeirah

Sand, sunscreen and sea air all find their way into watches worn on the Palm. We repair the crowns, crystals and movements that suffer for it, whether the watch belongs to a resident or a visitor.

Watch Repair

Beach days are tough on a crown

Sand grit in a crown tube, sunscreen on the case and a quick plunge in the pool are everyday risks on the Palm. They can lead to a gritty winding action, a loose crown or moisture under the crystal. Salt in the air and strong sun add to the strain on seals and metal parts.

We examine the watch methodically, working from the outside in, until the cause is found. The repair is then proposed and explained, and the watch is only worked on once you have agreed. Because the cause is repaired as well as the symptom, the same problem is far less likely to come back after the next beach day.

Repairs beach life tends to call for

01

Gritty crown and stem

Where sand has worked into the crown or stem, we examine the wear, repair or replace what is damaged and confirm the crown turns and seals.

02

Pusher and chronograph faults

Sand and sunscreen residue can make chronograph pushers sticky or unresponsive. We trace the cause, repair the affected parts and check the function through its full cycle.

03

Crystal and seal checks

A knocked or chipped crystal is replaced when needed, and the surrounding case is examined so that water and sand are kept out of the movement afterwards.

04

Movement repair if affected

Should sand or moisture have reached the movement, our watchmakers assess the damage, explain what repair is realistic and carry it out with your agreement.

Repair for the Palm's villas and hotels

The Palm's villas on the fronds, beach hotels and residences are home to high-net-worth residents and visitors alike. Visitors sometimes arrive with a favourite watch, only for it to stop or misbehave after a week of heat and swimming, and resort life leaves little time to notice the early symptoms.

If that sounds familiar, message us on WhatsApp or call and describe what has happened. Our Dubai Hills workshop is where the repair takes place, and we can arrange a time for you to bring the watch in. A photograph of the dial and crown sent beforehand helps us prepare for what we may find.

Signs of beach damage to look for

  • Grains of sand or a gritty feel when you turn the crown.
  • Chronograph pushers feel sticky or slow to spring back after the beach.
  • Moisture or mist has appeared inside the crystal after a swim.
  • The watch stopped suddenly during a holiday or a week of heavy use.

Questions about watch repair in Palm Jumeirah

Can a watch be repaired after a day on a Palm Jumeirah beach?

The first step is to stop wearing it near water and have it examined. Sand and moisture cause different problems, and a watchmaker can tell which is involved. We then explain the repair and carry it out at our workshop.

I am visiting the Palm from abroad. Can I arrange a repair?

Contact us on WhatsApp with the watch details and what is happening. We can discuss the best way to get the watch to our Dubai Hills workshop and when an appointment is possible, bearing in mind how long you are in the country.

Does sunscreen really affect a watch?

Sunscreen and oils can build up around the case, crown and pushers, and in time the residue can affect how they operate. Wiping the case clean after the beach is sensible, but if a pusher or crown feels stiff or different from usual, do not ignore it. That needs a watchmaker.

Will you tell me before extra work is added to a Palm Jumeirah repair?

Yes. We explain what we find before work begins, and if something further comes to light we tell you at that point. Nothing is added without your agreement, whatever the size of the repair, which keeps a job on a holiday timetable easy to follow.
